DSP is better than Red Hot Chili Peppers
Take Some Time What do you want me to tell you? That you're absolutely fantastic? That your band is one of the best ensembles I've heard on garageband so far? That if I was a chick, I'd be your groupie, hands-down? I'm pretty sure you know all the above is absolutely true. Between the catchy hook, excellent vocals (lead and backup), incredibly funky and impressive guitarist, complimentary and exquisite drummer, and perfect songwriting, I'd say that this song deserves a 5, hands-down. I hope this is at the top of Funk, because it deserves it more than anything. Lead singer has excellent diction and just a great voice all around. The backup vocals are used professionally-sparsely and exactly. Just... everything in this song is excellent. You're going on my playlist. Reviewed by: AwkWurdSylence from Birmingham, Alabama Better than Red Hot Chili Peppers My first initial reaction to this song is that this is what the Red Hot Chili Peppers would sound like if Anthony Kiedis could actually sing. More rock than funk, but in a great way. The arrangement is never dull and the performances are tight. The guitars and vocals are keenly in tune and have interesting parts. Being a fan of "the little things" I especially love the subtle organ part underneath it all. The lyrics are okay, nothing new, but here the music is more important than the message, really. Cool groove...... Love the drums opening things up, with the strong guitar riffs setting the rhythm in place--great intro. When the verse kicks in...the wah on the guitar adds a cool touch. Ahh, nice female vox backing the male lead vocals--nicely placed and smooth. The lead vocals have a unique style and it fits the mood of this groovin vibe. The effects used on lead vox once in a while is kind of cool--breaks it up, keeps it interesting. The bass line is in the pocket and keeps the drive. The guitar parts are tasty throughout. This song, overall, has a great funky vibe. The performance is tight. I could see this one really gettin a live crowd goin. Not sure what stage you're at in the recording process, but this particular recording doesn't quite do everyone justice. The sound you've created here, is definitely worth a hot mix. Good luck...you've got somethin started here. - MsPaige from Portland, Oregon on 26Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Very original sound... nice!! Great funk, it rocks. Great sound, not even my favorite type of music, but one of the best I've heard on here. All the vocals are great, neat changes and backups. Has a great flow, great performance, powerful, and full of energy, without being obnoxious. Guitars are perfect for the song. I wouldn't change a thing. - benderr from Lewisburg, Pennsylvania on 26Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AWSOME Wow this is really good. Probably the best song I've heard in this genre. I really think that this could go somewhere. Alright first of all...The vocals. They are border line perfect. They are at a very great level in the mix. Not to outstanding but very present. They are perfectly on key and have great tone. The female vocals in the background are great as well. Adds a lot of personality to your stuff. All parts on the vocal front are really good. The guitaring is awsome. Not to in your face when theres vocals and other things standing out. But very well played. The drums are very tight and do their job perfectly. Very nice fills, and very good all around. The whole mix is pretty much perfect. Everything blends very nicely. Your sound is very Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Which is good. Especially the chorus. The guitar solo is well done. not over played. But very good none the less. The entire rythym section rips. I love the little harmonies after the guitar solo. nice touch...All around a great track... keep it up...Love the ride work on the drums !!!! GOOD JOB!!!!!!!! 5 out of 5 - codytoast666 from Kenora, Ontario, Canada on 26Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Some Time What do you want me to tell you? Vocal effects are excellent. Little to criticize here. Like the syncopation.... not the way I would approach it, which is a cool thing. Like the changes in voices and power wah pedal. - MIDBOE from Gig Harbor, Washington on 24Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- review i like the intro, it has funky all over it. i like the vocals. like the drums. i can definatley hear this on the radio. like the hook. im really feelin this song. - Hugh_Seffner from Randolph A F B, Texas on 24Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- wow grea sounds here perfeomanc is tight..very energetic...voclas to match ..although a gruffer attack might suit some of the phrases.. te guitars are the best hrere..lovely combo sounds and warm funk playing...wah wah is nicely mixed great voclas in terms of right in the mix - saxnaxe from Llandudno, Con, United Kingdom on 24Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CHILLY HOT_ cool_ PEPPERS?? OH MY GOODNESS..smootha-sexier like, but VERY well down funk, aka the above band. I enjoyed the keyboards, and nice mix/mastering job,and the mix..did i mention? - angeldasinger from Los Angeles, California on 23Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Better than RHCP My first initial reaction to this song is that this is what the Red Hot Chili Peppers would sound like if Anthony Kiedis could actually sing. The production is stellar and clean, perfect for this type of song. I also love the riff, though I would have liked to have heard it close the song, giving it a stronger sense of closure. Overall, a great tune that's up there with some of today's funk rock out there. - mosquitobingo from Seattle, Washington on 23Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- rock on ! sound like a rock music, but it's not ! it remind me the bootzilla from bootsy collins. Of course near us it's red hot chilly pepers the most common of this music. It's really well played. The voice is nicely reccorded. well production, good luck. - Med^Velvet from Saint-Ouen, France on 22Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- power pack i dig the sound of the bass, very punchy! the performance is very tidy and pro all the way through. It is obvious that the band is experienced. The guitars are slightly reminicent of the chilly peppers. cool song - ziadalle from Invercargill, Southland, New Zealand on 21Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- power funk This sounds more like alternative music to me, than funk. It's not bad. The structure of the song is pretty good, but this really isn't funky at all. - LightSideDark from Downey, California on 19Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tight Funk ROCK. The performance is very tight- skilled and well rehearsed. You sound like an experienced band. Guitars sound good (smooth tone and not overpowering in the mix) and the lines fit the song. This song sounds professional overall. The drums are recorded well and sound punchy. BUT, the song is kind of generic sounding funk-rock (not original, nothing really NEW here). Ya'll are very talented and it is a solid song. - chunkystyle from "happy" Valley, Utah on 19Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- not funk, but funky.. Very Chili pepper esque... The song is good, but the vocals lack interest. I like the song, but the vocalist has got to go.....After listening to the entire song. The rest of the band is great, but if they want peeps to dig em' they gotta drop that boring vocalist. - Lo_FiPioneer from Chicago, Illinois on 19Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- this song is funky I like it. It is energetic and has a few edgy sound effects within the song. good arrangement. the guitars is good. I'm not an instrumentalist but to me it sounds good - Kinanorthington2000 from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 19Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Funky Chilli Pepers with an Incubus touch Great funky groove...pre verse..pre chorus all tight. I wonder if the chorus could be shaped up a bit. Nice solo part...and organ in the mix. Really nice beak down before the last chorus. The bass is real nice and funky at the end during the chorus...maybe try a lttle of that in the earlier parts of the song. - MYSTERIOSO from Union Park, Florida on 18Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Use the funk Luke! Jumping right into this track I can't help but get hooked. The drum fill and the bass that slide into that tight riff is a great way to bait the listeners. So there I was eagerly awaiting something funky. The first starts and all I can think is how much this vocalist sounds like Anthony Keidis from RHCP. That would be okay except I don't really think Keidis is all that good/inspiring of a vocalist. This vocalist does a better job at it than he does. After thinking about that and giving the track a few listens I realize I can't get over it. The choruses sound pretty boring and unimaginative. I'd like to hear some more crazy funky sounds or some sort of percussive instrumentation during the chorus. Something that really bites me in the ass and makes me want more. However, that bite never stikes. The part of the track I like the most is the solo and the bridge. Some cool guitar work going on there, especially when the guitars are doubled and harmonizing. Good tone and feel and I find myself wishing there was more of that and less of the chorus that comes around one more time afterwards. The band performance is pretty good, but the song itself is lacking some originality. Something that makes it stand out from everybody elses. What is that element you ask? You'll find it in yourself. Good luck and keep trying! - TheNewHotness from Arcadia, California on 16Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is da shit Tight band, nice vocals. where could you go wrong. American pop funk seems to be the norm here but u guys do it well. Personally i think a shuffle groove with a tastfull funk backbeat would suit this song really well as opposed to an all out rock beat. Cool track, radio friendly, what more can i say.... Good work guys! - ogradypeter from Booterstown, Dublin, Ireland on 16Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- well wicked very australian? hm... good groove well played nice vibe.. carnt really say anything but its a good tune and im enjoying the listen.. on ya guys.... - gracie1979 from Perth, Western Australia, Australia on 16Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Funk wit da edge Hard core funk mon.. nice drum mix.. and bass.. awesome.. vocals are very clean and right on with pitch... - macaoidh from Albany, Oregon on 16Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Performed Well This song reminds me of a funky Rage Against The Machine, with heavy rocking guitars and the harmonizing with the bass parts. The lyrics are well written and rehearsed and the overall sound is very rock funk oriented. Cool Vibe, great rhythm section, great seasoned musicians and overall great song. - SamFisher from Atlanta, Georgia on 15Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Good song. Musicianship outshines vocals. Good drumroll intro. Guitars have a nice funky feel. Chorus seems to lose that funk though. Guitars dominate the vocals a bit much in the mix...those female backing vocals could be beefed up a lot more...as it is, they don't seem to be adding much to the track. Nice full guitar sound starting at 1:50...guitar is the real strength of this song. Pretty good drums tibres as well. Extra kudos if this was a live recording though! - Skerror from Newberg, Oregon on 15Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- the straw that broke the camel's back WHY IS EVERY SINGER ON GARAGEBAND.COM TOO QUIET IN THE MIX???? I CANNOT UNDERSTAND A WORD YOU ARE SAYING. FROM NOW ON I'M GIVING AN "IRRITATING" TO EVERY BAND WITH QUIET VOCALS! However, the bridge is bad ass. Your guitarists can really rock out. Drummer's straightforward simple rock style works extremely well throughout the song. Song is well-paced. Singer sounds good (I think), but the few words I can make out are really stupid. Keep trying. - SoundsInside from Tucson, Arizona on 14Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gtreat guitars. The performance is good. I really liked the guitars. The solo is really good, I think it needed to be longer and brought a little higher in the mix so it cuts through the left and right channels. The over all sound is great though. - johnnie5ive from Massillon, Ohio on 14Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- wow!! great work! love this music!! cool band!! groooove etc! real good band!! super sound! you BEST! - giperton from Russian Federation on 14Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- kinda funky rock not really funk, the rhythm of the track is kinda funky in places but only in a chilli peppersish sort of way - much more rock than funk overall the playing is all pretty tight, the drums stood out as well played with some nice little flourishes on the ride towards the end. the bass pretty much stuck to the basics - i'd like to hear something with a little more flair. the guitars were well played but overused, they didn't leave any space for the other instruments to develop a really funky groove - for me funk is about what you leave out, it needs space & a great groove should be multi layered. everything is about right level wise, and the production is good, lending the song a bit of a live feel. the vocals didn't really grab me, they're sung well enough but neither the singers voice, nor the lyrics and melodies stood out for me particularly - perhaps this song might fair better in one of the rock sections - it was just not funky enough for my taste - deltaskelter from Ashford, Kent, United Kingdom on 14Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Get the funk outta here!!! Pretty good performance well performed tight sound. I thought the guitars were good just in the break the lead sound could have been more defined. Overall a very good track. - dandrofitz from London, United Kingdom on 14Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Needs 1 c. Soul Nice sound--kind of a Chili Peppers sound going on at the beginning, although the energy seems to be lacking overall. The vocals, the background music, and the overall performance doesn't quite hit the level that it requires to really get funky. Good tune, but without the extra soul, it is only slightly above mediocre. - ManateeBoy from Tempe, Arizona on 13Nov2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ROck On! Nice finky rythym man, I like the music for real. your vocals are good, for the harmony though its good just be more in unison as of the tone and clarity to help bring the lead out. The female voice was a smart and prroffesional move to help the song go a different direction. Guitars are great as if yo needed me to say that! I can see you performing this live, it actually sounds live! Keep it up man! - oct287 from De Soto, Texas on 13Nov2006 The production is stellar and clean, perfect for this type of song.
